Dubai with Miles: Qatar Airways Business Class and First Class

Dubai is probably one of the best-known and most popular destinations in the world for a long time and can be reached surprisingly comfortably with miles with a little planning. For this short trip, we went from Frankfurt via Doha to Dubai, exclusively in the premium cabins of Qatar Airways. There were several highlights on the programme: the award-winning Qatar Airways Business Class, the exclusive Al Safwa First Class Lounge in Doha and even a real first-class experience on the way back.

Qatar Airways is considered one of the best airlines in the world and is particularly known for its luxurious business and first-class products. Thanks to a mileage booking, I was able to experience different cabin products on a single trip while testing some exceptional aircraft types.

The first flight was from Frankfurt to Doha in Qatar Airways Business Class on board a modern Boeing 787-9. This flight already promised a first-class travel experience with high-quality service, comfortable seats and the luxury typical of Qatar Airways. While Qatar Airways is known for the QSuite, another seat is installed here. One thing in advance, even after more than 10 flights, I'm still not a fan.

After arriving in Doha, one of the biggest highlights of the trip awaited: the famous Al Safwa First Class Lounge. Described by many frequent flyers as one of the best airport lounges in the world, the exclusive premium lounge at Hamad International Airport takes transferring to a whole new level. I had the chance to visit the Al Safwa First Class Lounge many years ago. At the time, the experience was gigantic.

From Doha, we continued to Dubai in the Airbus A350-900. The older Qatar Airways Business Class was used, but it is marketed as First Class on this short-haul route. Especially for aviation enthusiasts and mile collectors, this offers an exciting opportunity to experience a special product on a comparatively short route.

The return flight finally offers a real AvGeek highlight: a former Cathay Pacific Boeing 777-300ER with a full-fledged First Class. In addition to three ex-Cathay 777s, Qatar Airways has only six other aircraft in which a real first class is installed - all Airbus A380s.
